Listening Session on Enhanced Inspection Process
December 9, 2020 - 6PM
Governor Newsom has directed the BSCC to strengthen the state’s oversight of county jails. At its February 2020 Board meeting, the Board approved a conceptual change to the jail inspection process which will better hold local detention facilities accountable for expeditiously addressing serious deficiencies of noncompliance with Titles 15 and 24 of the California Code of Regulations. The February 2020 Board Agenda Report can be located here.
At the September 2020 Board meeting, a flow chart outlining the Enhanced Inspection Process timeline was approved; a link to the flow chart can be found here.
The Board is seeking public input on the proposed enhancements to the inspection process; prior to the stateside shelter-in-place orders, the BSCC had held two public listening sessions, and will hold a third session via Zoom on December 9, 2020 - 6PM.
